A young Aldous Huxley, in time-out for being too adorable.

Still not a winter wonderland here in Boston… I took this picture a couple years ago (whoa, that went fast), when I went on a trip to Toulouse, France during my semester abroad in Bordeaux.
Totally obsessed with this band right now: Emily Peal. You can download this song at that link.
I saw them play last night at a bar; the drummer is my coworker. They put on a really great show, and it was awesome to see my coworkers somewhere besides work!
Ok, I know I already posted this song, but this vid is almost better because The Bullitts producer gets DOWN.

John Steinbeck, East of Eden, 1952
I absolutely love this book. I just finished it for the second time today and now that I’m older it definitely resonated a lot more. Such beautiful writing and wonderful characters and I love all the allegorical connections and historical references. Steinbeck considered it the culmination of his career. I definitely recommend it.
There was a film of it made in 1955 staring James Dean as Cal. I think I would be pretty upset if I watched it and it was terrible; I like the book too much… I wonder if it’s any good? Has anyone seen it?
